NOTE: I think the print is fixed now.

This is a little goldfish I met in Salt Lake City, Utah. The hotel I stayed in had goldfish bowls in every room, which I thought was kind of crappy because who knows how they are treated by guests and staff. I'm sure the hotel's attitude is that they are like decorations, totally disposable. Anyway, that kind of pissed me off. Since I was there for work I was away from my pets so having the goldfish in the room at least gave me someone to talk to. Since I knew I'd never see him again I figured I'd snap some photos of him. I painted this when I got home.

The outpouring of love for this little guy has been so tremendous that I added a couple of versions of it in the DA print section. He's so little that real prints probably wouldn't look so great, but he's perfect for a fridge magnet! It's available here: [link]

great painting. Sad story though, some people just dont think that fish have any feelings, what if some kids knocked the bowl over and no one fixed it... poor fishy. I know what you mean about being away from your pets, i just got back to my dogs from being away for 3 months, i missed them so much! Did you call him anything?

oh man, I liked this for the picture alone, but after reading your description, and finding out it's a teeny tiny painting, I love it even more :heart: :) wonderful work!!

(although I do agree with you about the sucky situation for the fish :hmm: it sounds like a neat idea in theory, but yes, I bet little kids stick their fingers in it, dumb people pour crap in the bowls, who know :shakefist:)

Aww, he's adorable. Great work!

But poor, Edgar (and all the other fishes) that have to endure the torment of little children and other moderately intelligent life forms.
